“It’s the same approach. It’s all about honesty,” says Baritone Emmett O’Hanlon when asked to talk about the challenges in performing both crossover and classical repertoire. When he was studying classical voice at the Juilliard School, Emmett was picked up by the crossover group Celtic Thunder as a featured artist, and then joined the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Emmett sat down with us in Central Park this fall to discuss his upcoming season which includes four role debuts and his first professional engagement in Germany. We also asked him about what it’s like to sing the role of Gaston in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and the title role in Don Giovanni back-to-back.
