Irish soprano Sarah Brady is a rising star on both the operatic and concert stages. Highlights of the 2023 - 2024 season include Ms. Brady’s role debuts as Micaëla in a new production of Carmen by Constanza Macras, and Ortlinde in Die Walküre by Benedikt von Peter, both at Theater Basel. She also returns to Staatsoper Hannover as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and to Irish National Opera to perform Musetta in La bohème. On the concert platform, Sarah returns to the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic for Bruckner’s Mass in F Minor and Frank Martin’s Golgotha.
A former member of the prestigious young artist program OperAvenir at Theater Basel, she subsequently joined the ensemble, and was nominated as Upcoming Artist of the Year by Opernwelt for her achievements during this year. From 2020 - 2023, Ms. Brady was a member of the ensemble of Staatsoper Hannover where her numerous roles included the Swan Princess in Rismky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Zaltan, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, La Bellezza in a staged version of Handel’s oratorio Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the Governess in The Turn of the Screw, which was nominated as “Important Stream of the Year” by Opernwelt in 2021.
In the 2022 - 2023 season, Ms. Brady made her debut with the Nederlandse Reisopera singing Gretel, and made her debut with Irish National Opera as Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, in addition to numerous appearances at Staatsoper Hannover. Orchestra engagements for Ms. Brady included a performance of Jörg Widmann’s ARCHE at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, and Haydn’s Theresienmesse in Utrecht. That season also saw the release of her debut album Matters of the Heart, a CD of Lieder by Robert Schumann and Richard Strauss recorded at SRF Studios in Zürich with Prospero Classical.
A passionate singer of recitals and oratorio, Ms. Brady has performed with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester Basel, La Cetra Barockorchestra Basel, Ensemble Marsyas, RTÉ Symphony Orchestra, and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, with repertoire including Bach’s St. John Passion, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, and Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass, Vesperae solemnes de confessore and Exsultate jubilate.
Sarah has received many prizes and scholarships, including prizes at the international Mozart Singing Competition in London. She was also the recipient of both the Bernadette Greevy Award and Royal Dublin Society Music Bursary in 2017.
