Valerie Eickhoff Named Opus Klassik Young Talent of the Year

Valerie Eickhoff has been named Young Talent of the Year by Germany’s foremost classical music award organization, Opus Klassik. Since 1994, Opus Klassik has recognized excellence at the highest level of the classical music industry through its awards, whose previous winners include Anne-Sophie Mutter, Jakub Józef Orliński, Julia Bullock, and Jonathan Tetelman.

“I’m incredibly honored to receive this recognition from such an iconic organization as Opus Klassik, especially after my debut solo album release,” Valerie said. “I have long admired the artists who have received Opus Klassik awards, and to now be included among these extraordinary artists is an overwhelming joy.”

Winners of the Opus Klassik awards were selected by an esteemed jury of nine industry experts and winners will be honored in a ceremony at Konzerthaus Berlin on October 13, 2024.

“For Valerie to be recognized with what is the equivalent of a German Grammy Award so early in her career is a remarkable achievement,” said Promethean Artists Founder & President Adam Cavagnaro. “For an artist so young to be recognized with this distinguished award after only her first solo album is a true testament not only to Valerie’s incredible talents but also a wonderful recognition of her hard work.”

Winner of the 2022 Südwestrundfunk Junge Opernstars competition, mezzo soprano Valerie Eickhoff joins Semperoper Dresden next season as a featured ensemble member with roles including Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Stephano in a new production of Romeo et Juliette, and Nicoletta in Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen. The 2023 - 2024 season sees several important house and role debuts including as Ramiro in La finta giardiniera with Theater an der Wien and as Driade in Ariadne auf Naxos. Second Bridesmaid in Le nozze di Figaro, and Blümenmädchen in Parsifal with the Bayerische Staatsoper. She will also return to Deutsche Oper am Rhein as a guest artist to debut the roles of Angelina in Cenerentola and Marylou in Märchen im Grand Hotel. Concert work includes Poem de l’amour et de mer with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Des Knaben Wunderhorn with the Orchestra della Toscana Italy, and a concert of Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder and Respighi’s Il Tramonto with the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchestra in Mannheim, Germany. Ms. Eickhoff also records the complete Hans Eisler Hollywood Songbook with pianist Eric Schneider this season, which is released on the Ars Production label.
